The whole, good quality filaments of Crocus sativus famously the most expensive spice in use, saffron filaments are the whole stamens from the saffron flower. around 75 flowers are needed to harvest the 0.5 grams we stock.
The most classic use of saffron is in rice dishes such as pilafs, and paellas. A small pinch soaked in water or milk adds colour and flavour against. Saffron pairs well with vanilla and cardamom to provide great depth in deserts.
